About

Rough Serif Font features a distressed, mechanical structure that accurately reproduces the unpredictable ink spread of an antique typewriter. The letterforms are characterized by uneven stroke weights, textured edges, and prominent, blocky serifs that anchor each character. Spacing is relatively open, allowing the distressed details to remain visible without causing the letters to bleed together at moderate sizes. These textured characteristics make the typeface an excellent choice for vintage packaging, crime novel covers, and retro editorial layouts. The distressed spacing helps maintain clarity in larger headlines, providing a strong analog presence. However, the heavy textural damage reduces continuous reading comfort, meaning this typeface becomes significantly less effective when applied to lengthy paragraphs or small interface labels.

Best For: vintage product packaging, crime novel covers, retro editorial layouts, music festival posters

Not Ideal For: long paragraph text, small interface labels, corporate reports

Perfect for editorial, headline, and packaging, with a grunge and display style.
