ARB-218 Big&Blunt Font
Free for personal useAbout
Chunky strokes, squared-off terminals, and near-zero stroke contrast — ARB-218 Big&Blunt makes no attempt at elegance, and that’s the point. Originally documented in the March 1950 issue of *Signs of the Times* magazine as “No. 2 Plain Egyptian Blunt Type,” this face was designed for speed lettering on canvas posters and walls. The digital version, released by Fontry in 2010, preserves that same unapologetic weight, making it a credible pick for retro poster headlines, event banners, and vintage-themed branding. It also includes a neon-line effect variant, useful for layered two-color designs. That said, its heavy weight and tight spacing make it unsuitable for body copy or any layout where readability at small sizes matters.
Best For:- Vintage poster and canvas-style headlines
– Retro storefront or signage mockups
– Music event flyers with a mid-century aesthetic
– Layered neon-effect display graphics
Not Ideal For:- Body text or paragraph-length copy
– Corporate or formal brand identities
– Small-scale UI labels or captions
– Any layout requiring high readability at small point sizes
Perfect for advertising, branding, and headline, with a bold and display style.
