Built from uneven brush strokes with high contrast and jagged edges, Ancherr reads less like typography and more like something scratched into a dark surface. The letterforms carry a rough, organic weight — thick downstrokes collide with thin, almost torn-looking terminals that give it an unmistakably horror-adjacent energy. It works well for short display text: poster headers, album cover titles, event name treatments, or apparel graphics where mood matters more than refinement. That said, Ancherr struggles badly at small sizes — the stroke irregularities collapse into visual noise, making it unsuitable for subheadings or captions. It also lacks the versatility needed for multilingual or symbol-heavy projects, as the glyph set is limited. Best deployed sparingly, in large sizes, against dark or textured backgrounds.
