There’s a satisfying roughness to Aalama — strokes that feel hand-drawn but carry enough structure to stay legible at display sizes. The letterforms lean casual and kinetic, with uneven edges and a natural flow that reads more street-authentic than polished studio. It holds up well on poster headlines, product labels, and social media quote graphics where a raw, lived-in character is the point. That said, the rough texture breaks down at small sizes, and the informal construction makes it a poor fit anywhere tone needs to feel refined or institutional. If you’re after clean geometric display type, Aalama will feel too loose. For projects where “authentic” is doing real creative work, it earns its place.
