There’s a rawness to Akoom that earns its place in the right project — but only if you know what you’re getting. Tall serif letterforms show visible distortion and uneven stroke weight, giving each character a worn, eroded appearance as though exposed to static or decay. The spacing is generous enough to maintain readability at headline sizes, though small-scale use breaks down quickly. This is a font that sets a tone before you even read the words — dark, vintage, and slightly unsettling. It suits boutique horror event flyers, artisanal packaging where “handmade imperfection” is the aesthetic, or alt-music album artwork. Where it fails: anything requiring clarity at body size, or any context demanding professionalism. Don’t push it below 24pt.
