Voces Font
Free for Commercial UseAbout
Voces is a humanist sans serif with gradual stroke modulation, open counters, and a large x-height that keeps dense text readable even at smaller sizes. Short ascenders and descenders tighten vertical spacing, so you can fit more information without the page feeling cramped, especially in reference layouts and compact interfaces. It was developed to typeset IPA and bilingual dictionaries, so it handles phonetic symbols and extended Latin with a steady, utilitarian personality. Compared with more neutral system sans serifs, Voces feels slightly more technical and editorial, which helps in linguistic materials, study guides, and notation-heavy charts. The same traits that make it efficient in dense text can feel too matter-of-fact for emotional branding, weddings, or expressive lettering, where a warmer or more decorative face would do better.
Best For:
Bilingual dictionaries and IPA-heavy layouts
Educational books, study sheets, and language materials
Data-dense editorial pages and reference charts
Compact UI panels that need extended Latin support
Not Ideal For:
Romantic wedding suites or ornate invitations
High-fashion or luxury brand wordmarks
Playful kids’ graphics needing soft, bouncy letterforms
Large, expressive display headlines that rely on strong personality
Perfect for body text, editorial, and headline, with a classic and display style.
