Short Stack has squat, slightly irregular letterforms with firm strokes and loose spacing that keep text open and easy to scan, even at smaller sizes. Its overall voice feels informal and friendly, somewhere between a classroom handout and a clean comic caption, so it adds character without turning messy. This works especially well for children’s books, worksheets, educational apps, and lighthearted UI labels where you want warmth but still need clear hierarchy and legibility. For dense paragraphs in serious editorial or corporate settings, though, the bouncy rhythm can start to feel a bit too playful, and a calmer sans serif will read more comfortably.
