Ponnala is a Telugu display typeface with thick, weighty strokes, sharp contrast, and compressed forms that immediately pull the eye. The characters feel sculpted rather than drawn, with theatrical curves and dense spacing that create a compact, punchy texture on the page. It works well when you give it room at larger sizes, for example in film posters, event backdrops, or title cards where a bold regional voice is needed. For long reading or small UI text it can feel heavy and tiring, so it’s better treated as a display accent you pair with a simpler supporting font.
