Old Guard Font

Old Guard uses heavy serif letterforms marked by irregular eroded breaks across the strokes. The characters have sturdy proportions and a deliberately rough surface that gives short words a weathered, decorative presence. Spacing appears open enough to keep the distressed shapes from merging in large display settings, although the texture becomes harder to follow as size decreases. It works naturally for poster titles, label lettering, and apparel graphics where the letterforms can carry part of the visual texture. The worn detailing provides strong impact in headlines, but makes the typeface less comfortable for sustained reading or tightly set information.
